Nail Polish Swap

I usually opt out of blog swaps because I suck at buying presents for people and I suck at sending things out in the mail on time.

BUT I love nail polish.

So, when TaraCelia decided to host a NAIL POLISH SWAP, I didn't see how I could turn it down.

I was partnered with Ashley from Everyday AEM and she gifted me these lovely new nail colors.

I'd be lying if I said I hadn't painted my nails 3 different times in 3 days to try them all out.

Thanks Ashley, I love them!

Accent Nails

Some days it helps to come here to my blog and let it all out.

During the miscarriage especially it really helped to be able to write down all the thoughts that were swirling around in my head.

But some days I'd rather not think about it because it brings up all the emotions that I'm trying to suppress.

So today we're writing about NAILS!

Specifically the accent nail trend that seems to be all over the place these days.

Do you know about the accent nail?

It looks something like this:

Four nails one color, one nail another. You can do either a contrasting color or a color in the same family but a different hue.

At first I was very hesitant to give this trend a go because it reminded me too much of what we all used to do as little girls, paint each nail a different color or do alternating colors on each nail.

But yesterday I decided what the hell.

And now I'm all over this nail trend.

I opted for same color family, different hue rather than do the contrasting but next time I am totally doing the contrasting!

I used these 2 colors:

Who's Spinning Tonight Sephora by OPI and Siberian Nights by OPI

They are both in the purple color family but Siberian Nights looks black with the lighter purple next to it.

Next time I'm thinking pink with a blue sparkle accent. Much more adventurous!

Anyone else loving the nail accent trend?

Who's Spinning Tonight?

I'm feeling woefully uninspired to write a witty interesting blog post.

So I'm copying some other bloggers and blogging about....Nail Polish!

My Nail Polish of the Day to be exact.

Everything in my life is purple, gray or white right now.

My nails included.

Enjoy.

Oh Spring, where for art thou?

I know I said I was enjoying a bit of cold weather and rain before spring arrived, but after too too much nonstop rain I've changed my mind.

I'm ready for Spring.

So ready in fact that I've bought several items for Spring that are unusable in Oregon's current state of wet. And so ready that I'm capitalizing Spring unnecessarily.

Nevertheless in hopefully a few short weeks I will get a chance to use:

Tory (yes my purse has a name, doesn't yours?)

After I cleaned out my purse and discovered WAY too much crap I decided Marc (yes my old purse has a name too!) needed a break...enter Tory, she's beautiful, big and white and perfect for Spring!

These babies are waiting patiently for the rain to subside so they don't get ruined the first moment I step outdoors. I'm imagining them with a pair of fabulous shorts or skinny jeans.

I've been looking for a really good gray nail polish for awhile now and finally found this one at Sephora. It's part of some naughty ballerina set or something, an ode to Black Swan I believe. It's about to become my new spring gray.

Anyone else making spring purchases in anticipation of warmer weather?

Hidden Treasures

I don't know about the rest of you who have moved states but when I moved from Oregon to New York many years ago I took with me 2 suitcases and sent 2 boxes of stuff to myself.

I left everything else.

Now that I'm back here in Oregon for a bit and have a place to house all of my worldly possessions that I left behind I've had a chance to go through boxes and boxes of stuff that 5 years ago I deemed too important to throw out yet not important enough to take with me across the country.

In general all I can think to myself is, "Why the hell did you keep this?!"

SO much stuff I have now thrown out or donated.

I have no idea what possessed me to hold onto most of it.

But a few times I've unearthed some wonderful treasures that have remained hidden for 5 years.

Case in point....

Nail Polish!

Blues and Pinks and Purples, Oh My!

I unearthed this lovely box of polish and even after opening and disposing of all that were past their expiration date I still have a whole basket of fun colors.

For example:

I found this pretty gray/purple iridescent loveliness and have had numerous people ask me what my nail color is called.

I'm almost embarrassed to tell them it's not OPI or any other brand that anyone would recognize and it's from 10 years ago.

Anyone find any hidden treasures amongst their own things while doing some spring cleaning/moving?
